History continued

It was in early 1987 while the Church was some 5 years old that we moved into the first phase of our work which is now our Basement and Preschool. The cornerstone for this first section was laid April 10th , 1988.

The Church motto: "A People Touched By God And Touching Others"- became the guiding light for its ministries.

Pastor Hall led the Church with mind tentalating Sermon Topics, Street Evangelism, Social Outreach; speaking at Crusades and Political Conventions- Pastor Hall used every opportunity to stand out in Church news and headlines.

His creativity and willingness to address social issues has caused him to always be in some controversy.

The Church, true to its original vision and mission, has literally touched every section of Bahamian life and the four corners of the world.

Pastor Hall's evangelistic thrust has led to the establishment of the New Covenant Baptist Mission in Mitchell's Plain, South Africa. This Church was pastored by John Daries, a very dynamic leader. Also, New Covenant Mission Fund makes it possible for assistance to be given annually to Pastor Louis Jacques' Church and the people of Haiti.

What a joyous and memorable occasion it was when on October 7th, 1990 we laid the cornerstone of the Church Auditorium. Our present structure seats 12 hundred persons comfortably.

New Covenant's membership is noted for meeting the needs of people in every walk of life through their various auxiliaries led by spirit filled believers. Our Radio Ministry "Adventures in Abundant Living on ZNS 1240 AM & Pastor Simeon Hall Speaks to The Nation on Love 97FM" are also a source of blessing to many. Recently a Television Ministry was begun.

This year's 2001 theme for the Church is: "Rise Up And Build Through Christian Love, Sanctification And Witnessing." The theme is indicative of how far New Covenant's people have come. The pastor, along with leaders does not encourage slothfulness and procrastination. He encourages upward movement and growth. He expects his members to be saints, showing love in all their activities.

The Church has just completed a major community project called the Nola Musgrove Community Centre. This his enabled the Church to engage in multifaceted ministries catering to the least, the lost and the left out. The success of New Covenant, while it is inextricably tied to Rev. Hall and his dynamic creative preaching ministry, really must go to the scores of persons who have stuck with this work through thick and thin. There is an enumerable host of unsung heroes whose commitment to this ministry; through their presence, prayers and purse are truly deserving of the lions share of the credit. We commend them and give God praise.
